The role of the Cosmetic LPN is to ensure that the health and safety of all individuals are met through assessments of the individual, their development and total implementation of appropriate plans of care, supervision of individual’ services, supervision of the care giving staff.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assisting Dermatologists during more invasive procedures such as skin cancer surgery and injections of neurotoxin, fillers, sclerotherapy.
  • Educating patients on treatments and procedures including what to expect before and after.
  • Assisting with microdermabrasion, chemical peels, light therapy, skin rejuvenation, microneedling, skin biopsies
  • Capturing before/after photos to document treatment outcomes.
  • Willingness to stay updated on advancements in aesthetic medicine.
  • Medical charting, entering labs.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • 3 years clinical experience in a medical office. Dermatology experience preferred.
  • Understanding of medications and substances used in the aesthetics field.
  • Knowledge of physiology and anatomy, especially skin and underlying issues.
  • Excellent customer service skills- Considerate, kind, & compassionate.
  • Positive attitude – team player
  • Able to assist with procedures, give injections, obtain referrals, provide medication administration and effective telephone triage.
  • Ability to anticipate physician’s needs.
  • Ability to multi-task and function effectively in a busy Dermatology clinic environment.
  • Sincere interest in Dermatology/Surgery.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Self-starter, hardworking, dependable, and have a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients, co-workers, providers, supervisors, other departments, and with Insurance carriers.
  • Able to function well in a team-based environment.
  • Strong computer skills necessary, with Electronic Medical Record Experience (1 year preferred). Will perform scribing for the provider in addition to completing routine patient documentation in the scope of care.
  • Must have the ability to easily adjust to different job duties/position requirements. Including the ability to oversee both clinical and scheduling responsibilities.
  • Must have reliable and consistent attendance; arrive on time and follow all attendance policies.

EDUCATION / Licensures /Certifications:

  • Medical Assistant diploma OR valid LPN license
  • CPR (BLS) certification

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS

Work is performed in an office environment. Involves frequent telephone contact with clients, staff, vendors, consultants, and management. Requires the ability to work in a demanding environment, to work a flexible schedule and to effectively resolve conflicts as they arise. Travel Required up to 50% of the time.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work requires sitting for extended periods. Frequent standing and walking for prolonged periods, as well as some bending and stooping. Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds. Requires moderate typing skills and sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, copier, and other office equipment, as necessary. Normal or corrected vision to acceptable.
